OUTCOME OF THE EVENT
The Federation of Irish Wolfhound Clubs was established in the Netherlands in 1994 with the aim to “bring together, within a single framework, the Irish Wolfhound clubs or associations from as many countries as possible, to make joint efforts to protect, promote and improve the breed, and to foster friendship among Irish Wolfhound enthusiasts throughout the world.” Over the years, it has expanded beyond its founding members—all European and affiliated with the FCI—to include important partners such as the Irish Wolfhound Club of Canada, the Irish Wolfhound Club of America, and the Irish Wolfhound Club of England.
Since then, and on a biennial basis, one of the member Clubs organizes an event under the Federation's auspices. This event includes a members’ meeting, a congress where topics concerning our beloved breed are discussed, and one or two dog shows, that attract a significant number of breeders. The only exception was in 2020, when the event was canceled due to the SARS-Covid 19 pandemic. In 2026, the event has been organized by the Club del Levriero – Italy, which has decided to hold it in conjunction with the World Dog Show in Bologna.
